There were many celebrationswhen Mubarrak quit as leader of Egypt. The Irish Anti-War Movement organised this one last Sunday.
There was dancing, singing, speeches, clapping, sweets being passed around. Eamon McCann recounted the excitement in Derry by so many following the unfolding revolution online and through TV. He thanked the Egyptian people for giving hope and winning.
Members of Dublins Middle eastern community spoke how the revolution was the expression for values of equality and justice and thanked Irish people for supporting their brothers and sisters in Egypt in their struggle.
There was a countdown of dictaors to be overthrown and the express desire was to remove Gadaffi from his murderous regime in Libya.
Cllr Brid Smith spoke of the motion passed by Dublin City Council supporting the Egyptian people and how not everyone was full square behind it.
